25 Years Later: FHVAC Remembers September 11
On the eve of the 25th anniversary of September 11, Scouts, neighbors and FHVAC members gathered at our base to remember those lost, including our own Richie Pearlman.
Scouts present the colors as members and neighbors stand with hands over their hearts at FHVAC's 9/11 memorial, September 10, 2026.
On Thursday, September 10, the eve of the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, members of the Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps gathered with neighbors, families and friends at our base to remember the nearly 3,000 people lost that day, and the first responders who ran toward danger.
Local Scouts presented the colors, and everyone in the room stood together, hands over hearts, in remembrance.
For our corps, this day will always be personal. Richard Allen "Richie" Pearlman joined FHVAC at 14 as a Junior Corps member, served as a dispatcher, and joined the Senior Corps at 18. On September 11 he went to the World Trade Center, stayed to help the injured, and did not come home. He was 18 years old, the youngest first responder lost that day.
Thank you to the Scouts who carried our flags, and to everyone who joined us to remember.
Our 25th Anniversary September 11th Ceremony takes place on Friday, September 11, at 7:30 PM at our base. See ceremony details
Our remembrance continues on Saturday, September 19, with the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial "Run for Richie" Motorcycle Parade. See ride details and registration
Never forget.
