About FHVAC
Dedicated volunteers serving our community
Our History
Founded in 1971, the Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps has been a cornerstone of emergency medical services in Queens, New York City. For over 50 years, our volunteers have answered the call to serve, providing life-saving care to our neighbors.
How We Operate
FHVAC operates on a unique self-dispatch model. When a 911 call comes in for our coverage area, our dispatchers coordinate the response, assigning available units and crew members to incidents in real time. Our volunteers are trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who donate their time to keep our community safe.
Our Coverage Area
We serve Forest Hills, Rego Park, Middle Village, Glendale, Maspeth, Elmhurst, Corona, Kew Gardens, and Richmond Hill in Queens County. Our headquarters is centrally located to ensure rapid response times throughout our service area.
Leadership
FHVAC is led by officers elected from our active volunteer membership. All of them are working volunteers who still answer calls alongside the rest of the corps.
2026–2027 Officers
Our officers were sworn in by New York State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. — read more about the installation.
